Traffick-Free Community Task Force

SIERRA MADRE TRAFFICK-FREE COMMUNITY

SMCC has joined together with Oasis USA and others in our area to form the Sierra Madre Traffick-Free Community. This is a community group of individuals, organizations and churches that supports the fight against human trafficking by educating and mobilizing the community for the victims and the vulnerable. By raising awareness of the human trafficking problem we believe we can protect our community and provide healing and support to survivors of modern day slavery.

DOES HUMAN TRAFFICKING REALLY EXIST IN OUR AREA?

The San Gabriel Valley is one of the major areas of the country for people who are trafficked. Both sex and labor trafficked victims can be found in the back rooms of many different kinds of business establishments as well as homes.

We have organized training and awareness events, built 30 Freedom bags for girls who have recently been rescued from human trafficking, and are developing an awareness program that will be presented in local school assemblies. We meet once or twice monthly as needed. All are welcome to join us in this effort.

Our desire is to do what we can to stop all forms of human trafficking by creating community awareness, supporting local law enforcement, providing help to the victims, and influencing local laws, codes and enforcement. Check out our Facebook page, or contact [email protected] for more information.
